Genesee County Sheriff Robert J. Pickell kicked off his re-election campaign this morning when he met with supporters from throughout the county. Pickell took the opportunity to thank the community partners that have worked with his office over the years, and have helped champion the collaborative approach he has taken towards protecting Genesee County's families.

Pickell said "it has been a tremendous honor to serve the residents of Genesee County as their Sheriff and I'm confident that our work together will continue to yield positive results for our communities and the services we are able to provide them." He added "we've managed to improve our response times, keep officers on the street and ensure our seniors are protected from abuse. We've created a lot of success stories and we have many more yet to come."

Pickell has worked tirelessly to serve and protect the people of Genesee County since 1999. his office has targeted drug dealers and other street crime, pioneered a consumer protection task force that helps protect seniors and families from fraud, and kept officers on the streets despite the need to cut costs to the department.

Dan Kildee, former Genesee County Treasurer, said "Sheriff Pickell is pioneering new approaches in public safety that focus on collaborating with our citizens to keep our neighborhoods safe." He added that "Genesee County is fortunate to have Sheriff Pickell."

A new website was launched today at www.sheriffpickell.com where Genesee County residents can get more information about Sheriff Pickell, his re-election campaign and the work he is doing to keep Genesee County safe.
