Michigan Cousins Wave ‘Hi’ to Passersby Every Day – The Good News
When they could no longer meet for coffee every day, they decided to spread some cheer.
Gail Broekema and Kolleen Bruinooge are cousins who both live in Plainfield Township. Before the pandemic, they would meet at the local Planet Fitness every morning to work out together and then stop at the Biggby Coffee to get their caffeine fix and talk.
When restaurants and gyms closed in mid-March to help slow the spread of the coronavirus pandemic, their daily plans were drastically changed.
The ladies told WOOD-TV that they still met every day to drink coffee in their cars; when the weather started to get warmer, they brought chairs and sat outside their car. And then, they started waving to drivers to spread a bit of cheer.
“We just want to make you happy. We just want to do a good thing. We want to bring some positivity to a time that’s not so positive right now.”
People are so appreciative of their positive attitudes, in fact, that they're bringing gifts for the ladies and leaving them at the coffee shop drive-thru. They said that, even when gyms open back up, they plan on continuing their routine.
Just goes to show that it doesn't take a lot to make a person's day. Holding a door for somebody, saying hello or just a simple wave can be the best thing that happens to a person and you'd never know it. Spread kindness, it feels good and it doesn't hurt anybody.
These ladies rock my face off.
