The groundbreaking for the Karegnondi Water Authority (KWA) Pipeline is scheduled for this Friday.

According to a news release from Genesee County Drain Commissioner Jeff Wright, federal, state and local officials will be on hand at the construction site near Lake Huron.

Wright said "a lot of people have put in a lot of time for many, many years, even decades, to make sure this day happened. This is a historic day for our area, and one I believe will bring us economic relief, in more ways than one."

The Friday, June 28th event is open to the public. It begins at 10 a.m. and will take place at the corner of Fisher Road and M-25 in Sanilac County.
