A groundbreaking ceremony is scheduled for this week as the KWA pipeline project reaches Genesee County.

According to a news release from Genesee County Drain Commissioner Jeff Wright's office, the next phase of the project is underway. It includes the installation of 14.5 miles of 36" iron pipe.

The ceremony will have area community leaders on hand to discuss the progress on the project and this milestone. It's scheduled for Tuesday at 10 a.m. at Stanley Road just east of Henderson Road in Richfield Township. The exact location is near the Holloway Resevoir Park. Those attending are asked to use the fishing access to the park, which is on the north side of Stanley Road, about three-quarters of a mile east of Henderson.

The KWA pipeline project begin construction just over a year ago with the building of the intake to Lake Huron.
