The Flint School District's board of education met on Wednesday night. Fifty teachers and an assistant principal were recalled in the meeting. Twenty-one other staff were laid off.

According to MLive, budget reduction was cited for the layoffs.

Of the new layoffs, twelve are non-teaching, non-clerical positions. The other nine were personnel including paraprofessionals, secretaries and clerks.

The measure was approved by a 7-1 vote. Board member David Davenport cast the dissenting vote.
