School Leaders Talk Realignment Plan with Community [Video]
In the first of three community forums, Flint School leaders discussed plans for realignment as part of their plan to battle a nearly $22 million deficit. According to ABC 12, the proposed realignment will save the district $1 million per year, or $7 million over the course of the district's latest deficit elimination plan. Brownell-Holmes, Durant Tuuri-Mott and Potter Elementary will become K-8 buildings. Carpenter Road, Cummings and Scott schools will be closed. Of the plan and the community, Interim Superintendent Larry Watkins said they "wanted to make sure that they were part of the process." After the two remaining forums, a formal proposal will be submitted to the school board in May.
