The Flint School District's board of education is currently studying whether to shrink their size from nine members to seven.

According to Mlive, the move would come as a result of the shrinking size of the district. The possible reduction will be discussed at the board's June 5ht meeting. Any change to the number of members on the board would need to be approved by voters.

Currently school board elections take place in batches of three and the next election would be in 2014. If the board decides to go to seven members, an option would be to elect only one board member next year.
