The day to decide whether or not Proposal 1 will be the answer to funding the road improvements in Michigan, or if lawmakers will have to go back to the drawing board.

Voting opened at most poll locations at 7am, and will run through 8pm tonight.  The  simplest description of Proposal 1 is that the state sales tax would increase to 7% to raise money for road repair. The main issue is that not all of the dollars taken in by the state would be assigned to road repair.

The County Clerk has predicted low voter turnout for Proposal 1 voting, despite the major impact that it could have.

The main thing is that you need to educate yourself on the matter, because you will definitely feel the effect of it.  Here are a couple of tools to help you in the voting process.

Once you've made up your mind, take the 10 minutes out of your day to help decide the issue.  If you don't vote then nobody wants to hear you complain about the roads or the extra cash you're missing.
