New Michigan Bill Would Raise Smoking Age To 21, Ban Tobacco Vending Machines
The bill would make it illegal for anyone under the age of 21 to purchase tobacco products. If passed it would also ban tobacco vending machines.
A new legislature was introduced last week that if passed will raise the age to purchase tobacco to 21. The current age is 18, but if passed not only will the age to purchase be raised, but vending machine and online sales of cigarettes would be banned.
Also on the new bill will be changing the infraction for selling tobacco to a minor from a misdemeanor to a civil infraction.
