Hospital Tells Michigan Woman to Fundraise $10K for a Heart Transplant
*insert every swear word you can think of right here*
A hospital in Grand Rapids has sent a letter to 60-year-old Hedda Martin, telling her that she's been denied a heart transplant because she needs more "secure financial planning." They then recommend that she FUNDRAISES for $10,000.
AKA, this is the state of our healthcare system. The hospitals are onto us and our crowdfunding, and now they're actually USING IT against us.
Before everybody runs out into the street with torches, don't worry - she's already exceeded her goal. They're up to $15,000.
But that's not the point. The point is that, in the United States, this is the definition of a "death panel." This place decided that a woman's life isn't worth more than her financial situation.
Excuse me while I go puke-scream.
