Genesee Co. Sheriff: Everybody Should Carry Narcan

There have been five overdoses in the county in the last three days, which is a definite uptick.

Genesee County Sheriff Chris Swanson is suggesting that all residents of Genesee County carry Narcan on their person and keep an eye out for people who are overdosing.

Narcan is a medicated nasal spray that blocks the effects of opioids, including morphine and heroin.

Swanson said that one of his deputies saved a woman's life with Narcan over the weekend and that 99% of people that are in the county jail are under the influence of drugs and/or alcohol.

Personally, I don't feel like I'm qualified to spot an overdose OR administer Narcan. What do you think?
