Flint Teen Creates a Mental Health App

We've said it before and we'll say it again - the upcoming generations are going to change the world.

TK Thomas is only 16-years-old and he's already got a more impressive resume than most people. He's a member of the National Honors Society, president of the NHS chapter, and the graphic designer of the fine arts department at Flint Southwestern Classical Academy. His career goal is to be a psychologist.

And now, he's turning his personal loss into a method of help for others.

TK lost one of his best friends to suicide when he was just 15-years-old. “I just felt like wow to be at a young age to even be thinking about that he was 15 years old,” he told WNEM-TV 5 News.

He decided to take his grief and produce something from it - a mental health app called 100% Truth. The goal of the app is to help adults of all ages cope if they're feeling anxious, depressed, or having suicidal thoughts.

He took his app to an after-school program called Youth Quest and entered it into their pitch competition...and WON. He also won $500 at a youth entrepreneur competition in Genesee County.

TK says that his friends call him their "therapist." And that, in our opinion, is the best kind of friend to have - the one that you can talk to about anything, especially when you need somebody to listen to you in your darkest moments.

This kid is seriously going places. We can't wait to see what happens with 100% Truth in the future!
