The upcoming Bermudas on the Bricks now has it's own day with proclamations made by Flint Mayor Dayne Walling and Genesee County Commissioner Jaime Curtis at a news conference on Monday. Their proclamations are part of their official support to declare August 15 as "Wear Your Bermudas to Work" day.

The Bermudas on the Bricks is a party in downtown Flint that will feature bands, dancing, beer and food by area restaurants - all right on the bricks in the 500 block of South Saginaw Street. Cover is just $10 and the party goes from 4:30 p.m. until midnight. However officials are hoping the fun starts earlier in the day with a massive show of community pride. Companies large and small are being invited to participate by simply allowing their employees to wear Bermuda shots to work that day. More then 20 businesses have already signed on to support the effort including FirstMerit, Diplomat Pharmacy, Elga Credit Union, United Way and the Flint & Genesee Chamber of Commerce. The event is also being supported by the Flint Downtown Development Authority.
