The Parent Advisory Committee (PAC) in conjunction with the Genesee Intermediate School District (GISD) will be holding the first annual Transition Fair.

The goal of the event is to motivate and inspire students to begin planning their future as successful, independent adults who positively contribute to their community. To assit in this effort, the PAC is hosting Kinetic Affect (Speaking It Forward LLC), a group of inspiring, energetic, and entertaining poets with a very motivation message.

The Transition Fair will also give special education students that are 14 years or older and their families the opportunity to learn about options available to them after high school graduation and further into the adult world. Many time special education students that graduate with a high school diploma believe their education and opportunities for growth have ended. That's not the case. The PAC and GISD are hosting the Transition Fair so that representative from agencies, colleges, the military and businesses located in Genesee County can inform special education students and their families about the steps they can take now to plan their future also.

The Transiton Fair is being held Monday, April 23 at the GISD Erwin L. Davis Education Center located at 2413 West Maple Avenue in Flint. The Fair begins at 5:30 p.m. and ends at 8 p.m. Door prizes and light refreshments will be provided. To register for this event, call (810) 591-4881 or go online at www.geneseeisd.org. Online registration is available in the Quick Links section of the GISD home page.
