The next big project in Detroit opens today, and Little Caesars Arena is holding a huge ribbon cutting ceremony at 11am.

Little Caesars Arena released the following promo video for the big ceremony on Twitter.

You can watch the live stream of the ribbon cutting ceremony by clicking here.

The Ilitch family will do the ribbon cutting today, then the doors open up to the public this weekend. There will be public tours this Saturday (September 9th) starting at 2pm, till 8pm.

The Wings and Pistons will call the new arena home, but there are a few big events happening before either team enters.  Kid Rock will kick off the first show at LCA with a concert on September 12th.  Other big names coming through LCA this year include The Weeknd and Jay Z.

If you're looking for more information about the arena, you should definitely follow them on Twitter.  Another great resource is The District Detroit on Twitter. They've been tweeting out floor plans, and the best parking options for the new arena.

So after all of the controversy and celebration, Little Caesars Arena is a real thing.  The Palace is getting closed down indefinitely, and fans north of Detroit are going to be adding at least 40 minutes to their drive to see concerts and The Pistons.

Do you think that The Palace closing will mean a decrease the amount of events you go to this year?

Here is the introduction to LCA as presented on YouTube.
