Vehicle City Fest to Rock Flint, Help Water Crisis Victims This Weekend

Vehicle City Fest will bring 54 bands to four Downtown Flint venues across three days to benefit children affected by the Flint Water Crisis.

Vehicle City Fest may be a punk festival at heart, but it has a little something for everyone as well. "Most of the bands would fall within the punk/DIY genre, but [the festival will] represent many sub genres like emo, hardcore, alt-country, and more," said festival organizer and proprietor of Vehicle City Tacos, Danny Moilanen.

The action gets underway tonight (6/3), with bands at The Loft, Flint Local 432, and Churchill's beginning at 6:30p (doors at 6p). In addition to 54 bands, there is also a record swap happening at the Local Saturday from 12p-2p, and, of course, the beloved Vehicle City Tacos truck will be nearby.

A full weekend pass that will get you into every venue and every show is $40, but there are also a limited number of individual tickets available for most individual shows that range in price from $10-$18. All proceeds after expenses will be donated to the Flint Child Health and Development Fund, to help children affected by the Flint water crisis, via the Community Foundation of Greater Flint.

The festival may have been sparked by the Flint Water Crisis, but Danny has big plans for the festival beyond its inaugural outing. "We're hoping to make it something really special that happens in Flint on a yearly basis, similar to The Fest in Gainesville or Pouzza Fest in Montreal," said Moilanen. "Our goal is to continually bring people to Flint to see some of the best cutting edge punk bands!"
