Final unofficial election results are in for the Tuesday, August 5th primary elections. According to the Genesee County Clerk/ Register Office, just over 47,000 voters went to the polls, a turnout of about 14 percent.

In perhaps the most watched race, the 34th District state House Democratic primary, Flint City Councilman Sheldon Neeley fended off seven other challengers vying for Woodrow Stanley's seat. Neeley will take on Republican Bruce Rogers in November.

In the 49th District state House Democratic primary, incumbent Phil Phelps won his challenge by an almost 4-1 margin. He'll take on Lu Penton in November.

For the 5th Congressional District, Republican Allan Hardwick edged challenger Tom Whitmire for a chance to take on current U.S. Rep. Dan Kildee.

Genesee County Board of Commissioners Chair Jaime Curtis held off challenger Danny Wells in the 3rd District. Flint City Councilman Bryant Nolden won his race in the 1st District. Newcomer Mike Lynch won his challenge to try and succeed Archie Bailey in the 7th District.
