You'll have to wait on your tots, folks - Torch Bar and Grill in Buckham Alley will NOT reopen this weekend after all.

Restaurants seemed to have done one of three things during the global pandemic - shut down (either temporarily or permanently), started to offer carryout and/or delivery, or shut their doors to renovate. The latter is the story for the Torch in downtown Flint.

The Torch was planning on reopening this weekend; however, with the rise in COVID-19 cases throughout Michigan, they have decided to stay closed for the time being.

According to their Facebook page:

Unfortunately, we will not be re-opening on Saturday, August 1st. With the restrictions on indoor bar service along with Covid cases in Michigan rising again we feel that for the safety of our staff and guests the most prudent thing is to remain closed for the time being. However, we are continuing to make updates in anticipation of re-opening. We have replaced the carpet with new flooring and are making other updates as well. We are not going to try to announce an opening date at this time, but will let you know when we have a new date. Stay safe everyone, and we WILL be open at some point.🍔🍔🍔🍸🍻🍺🍷

You gotta admire businesses who used this time to renovate. AJ's nail salon was completely redone while they were closed for a few months; not only was it painted and rearranged, they had plexiglass barriers installed between nail techs and customers.

Don't worry, we'll all get our Torch burgers and tots again soon.
