It’s three out, and three in for SNL Season 42, at least so far. Where previously writer Mikey Day was eyed to join the cast in the wake of Taran Killam, Jay Pharoah and Jon Rudnitsky’s departure, NBC has done two better. Day will indeed join the cast, alongside fellow new additions Alex Moffat, and Melissa Villaseñor.

Per The Hollywood Reporter, all three will debut as featured players for the October 1 premiere, which lacks an announced host as of yet. Whereas Day comes from the SNL staff, Villasenor is a Los Angeles-based comedian and former America’s Got Talent finalist, while Moffat taught improve at Chicago’s Second City.

Elsewhere of Season 42, Chris Kelly and Sarah Schneider will take over as co-head writers from Rob Klein and Bryan Tucker, while returning cast will include Vanessa Bayer, Beck Bennett, Aidy Bryant, Colin Jost, Kate McKinnon, Kyle Mooney, Bobby Moynihan, Cecily Strong, Kenan Thompson, Sasheer Zamata, Michael Che, Pete Davidson and Leslie Jones.

We’ll likely know our first few hosts before long, but how does SNL Season 42 seem to be shaping up so far?
