The second time truly proved to be a charm for Michigan nurse Jacob Moran. He secured his spot in the Top 24 of this season's American Idol on Monday night and will move on to compete for the win next week.

Moran, a Dansville native, and East Lansing nurse became one of the show's top 24 contestants after the big Hollywood week portion of the competition. Although his full Show Stopper performance didn't fully air, clips of him singing "Is That Alright" by Lady Gaga were as he received the good news from the American Idol judges.

Moran, who is 28, has been down the American Idol road before. Moran auditioned for the popular singing competition back in 2019, but was eliminated during Hollywood Week that season. Since his last appearance, Moran worked as a nurse in East Lansing at Lansing Rheumatology. During that time he made some major life changes regarding his health and lost  80 pounds.

The change was something he told judges he decided to do after his first audition on the show and was excited about a second chance.

“I've put a lot of work into myself the last two or three years," Moran said. "I've lost some weight. I've just I've worked on myself, physically and mentally and I was ready", Moran told Fox 47

Jacob Moran will take the stage next on Sunday, April 10th. You can catch all the action starting at 8 pm on ABC. In the meantime, you can catch up with Moran and his journey by following him on his Facebook and Instagram.
