Ianni would replace Mark Hollis, who retired from his post last Friday amid the Larry Nassar scandal. His final day in office is Wednesday.

Ianni has been with Michigan State in an administration capacity since 1993.  He is a 1975 graduate of MSU; he played baseball during his time as a student in East Lansing.

Ianni was instrumental in recent infrastructure upgrades at Michigan State, including multimillion-dollar renovations and additions to Spartan Stadium and the Breslin Center.

His son, Anthony Ianni, played basketball at MSU from 2009 to 2012.
