Gaylord High School and Gaylord Middle School will start carrying a drug used to reverse overdoses called Narcan starting next Fall.

Narcan is used to reverse an overdose caused by drugs like heroin, and is already carried by most first responders in the area. Now thanks to a grant the Gaylord School district will receive Narcan for free. School staff will be trained this summer on how to give Narcan to students having an overdose and how to identify someone overdosing.

Until needed, Narcan will stay locked in a secure location. School staff state having the overdose-reversing drug around is great due to hundreds of people from the area showing up to football games.
