For the second week in a row, Michigan gas prices continue to be among the highest in the country.

Motorists will find the average price of gas jumped almost 12 cents this week according to AAA Michigan. The current statewide average is $4.21 per gallon, up almost 42 cents in the past month and almost 50 cents more than last year at this time. The price is just under five cents less than Michigan's all-time high of $4.25 set in May 2011.

Gas prices in and around the Flint area are less than the state average. Current prices are hovering around the $4.19 mark.

AAA says the high gas prices are a result of ongoing refinery issues at several Midwest refineries.

AAA surveys 2,800 Michigan gas stations daily. For more information, visit www.fuelgaugereport.com. To find the cheapest gas nationwide, go to AAA.com and look for AAA Fuel Price Finder.
