Mark Ingram will be returning to Flint for the The inaugural Mark Ingram 7-on-7 Vehicle City Classic.

The Heisman Trophy winner has a long history of giving back to Flint and Genesee County kids. According to his mom, Mark decided to put together the 7 on 7 format because it was one of his favorite things in school to do.  Mark is expected to be on hand for the games on Saturday June 8th.

If you are not familiar with the 7 on 7 format, there are some big differences from a traditional football game. The differences make the action fast and fun to watch. A quick rundown of the basics are below, or you can see the entire rule book here.

  • 7 players on the field
  • The field is 40 yards long
  • First downs are achieved at the 25 and 10 yard lines.

Admission into the tournament is free, so fans can come out  and enjoy a great day of Football. Right now the confirmed teams are Beecher, Carman, Clio, Flint, Goodrich, Grand Blanc, Hamady, and New Lothrop. Organizers are hoping to add two more teams before the start of the tournament.

The games will be played at Hamady High School, and at the old Hamady field located at Academy West on Pierson and Jennings Roads. The games will kick off Saturday morning at 9am.

Ingram has been busy this off season. He made an emotional departure from New Orleans and is part of the transition going on in Baltimore right now. Ingram did find some time to check out the NBA Finals in Toronto and got some major love from DeMarcus Cousins.
