Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert Extend Comedy Central Contracts
Huzzah, America! After being around seemingly forever, it would seem that ‘The Daily Show’ will be around quite a while longer, with its current and arguably best host to date in place. More than that, its sister show ‘The Colbert Report’ will be sticking around as well, but for how long? Does either series have a shelf life, or does Comedy Central plan to keep them around indefinitely?
From Deadline, we’ve learned that ‘The Daily Show’ and ‘The Colbert Report’ stars Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert will be sticking with Comedy Central just a bit longer. Following negotiations, Stewart has extended his contract with ‘The Daily Show’ as executive producer, writer and host, through the middle of 2015. Colbert too has re-upped for the same, though through the end of 2014 instead.
Both ‘The Daily Show’ and ‘The Colbert Report’ recently received four Emmy nominations apiece, no surprise as the only late night talk shows with any ratings growth among Adults 18-49 this season. In fact, ‘The Daily Show’ delivers about 1.4 million adult viewers, more than any late night talk show currently on television.
What say you? Are you happy to have Stewart and Colbert back for at least a few more years? Is there anyone you think would do the job better? Let us know your take in the comments!
