Huge Water Distribution Event Happening In Flint On Saturday
More than 100 pallets full of cases of water will be distributed in Flint Saturday morning.
The huge water distribution event is happening thanks to a partnership involving three Flint churches, the City of Flint, and the American Federation of Government Employees. There are thousands of cases of water that will be given away to Flint residents who need them.
The distribution will be split into two parts, with the first happening at Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church. The church is located at 2120 N Saginaw St, and the giveaway will run from 9am to 1pm. If you would like to get water at the church, you are asked to pull up to the church using the Newall St entrance, as shown in the map below.
The second part of the distribution will be delivered to senior centers, and low income housing in the city. This is where everyone who does not need the water can chip in to help. Volunteers are needed to help deliver the water to areas throughout the city. If you would like to volunteer, you can rsvp by emailing district7@afge.org. Volunteers are asked to be at Shiloh Church by 8am.
This is such a heartwarming event, and couldn't be better timed with the holidays happening next week. Thank you to Shiloh Church, Prince of Peace, and Salem Lutheran Church for their part in making this happen.
The Flint Water Crisis is out of the national headlines, but we know that it is still a very real part of our every day lives. This water distribution is much needed, so if you can volunteer, please take some time out of your Saturday to help out.
