Flint’s Claressa Shields Wins Boxing Gold
Earlier today, Flint's Claressa Shields won the first ever middleweight gold medal in women's Olympic boxing.
The 17-year-old Flint Northwestern student won the bout with 33-year-old Russian Nadezda Torlopova easily with a score of 19-12 according to ESPN.
ESPN also anointed Shields "one of the breakout stars of the games."
