The Board of Education made the official decision to close Flint Northwestern High School this week. The school will close after this school year. The Board of Education also decided to open Scott Elementary. That building will be used for seventh and eighth graders next school year.

The other changes coming in the next school year include reconfiguring Durant-Turri-Mott Elementary to a facility for kindergarten through sixth graders. The Alternative Learning Academy will be moved to Flint Southwestern Classical Academy. The Superintendent of Flint Schools, Bill Tawwab hopes these changes will improve academic performance.

Flint Community Schools fell to the fourth largest district in Genesee County last year, following Grand Blanc, Davison, and Carmain-Ainsworth.
