His stepmother says that they want to "flood" his hospital room at Hurley Medical Center with words of encouragement.

22-year-old Nick Chapman was working at an Owosso carnival over the weekend when, during a routine safety test on a ride, the bottom half of his leg was crushed. The injury was so severe that doctors had to amputate his leg below the knee.

His family says that he's at Hurley and responsive; nevertheless, they want to fill his room with get-well cards.

We have a former coworker whose son was in a terrible car accident last fall who also had to have his leg amputated, and we did the same thing for him - sent get well cards to be displayed in his room. A little bit goes a long way.
