Claressa Shields has already rewritten the boxing history books, but now she looks to make history again in the ring in Flint.

Shields announced that she will be fighting for the WBO junior middleweight championship belt on August 17th at Dort Federal Event Center. If When Shields wins, she will become the fastest boxer ever, male or female, to win three world championships in different weight divisions.

This won't be an easy task, even for Claressa. She is taking on former world champ Ivana Habazin. Shields will also have to be about six pounds lighter than she was for her last fight.

The fight will be nationally televised on Showtime, and tickets go on sale June 20th. Tickets are available online here or at the Dort Federal Event Center box office.

It's true that Shields has cemented her place in the history books, but she's done more than that for Flint. She has become the hero for kids in Flint. Even the fact that she is titling the fight 'Herstory' shows what this means for young girls everywhere.

The only thing that bothers me about Shields is that she isn't getting enough attention. She has accomplished so much at such a young age, and has done it all with class, grace, and style. She is continually giving back to her community, and always advocating for Flint. It's time that her fame grew to match the levels of her accomplishments, and more important, her character!

I just want to say thank you Claressa. We will be in your corner no matter what.
