During a special council meeting Monday night, Flint Mayor Karen Weaver announced city officials were working to create a position of chief public health advisor.

"The Chief Public Health Advisor would work to strengthen the health infrastructure in Flint to better address the growing number of health issues residents are being faced with now and in the future," according to a news release from the mayor's office. The position would initially be funded by a private foundation.
