Check Out Drone Footage of Wildfire Smoke That Has Reached Mid-Michigan [VIDEO]

We've been treated to some stunning sunsets lately but those magnificent paintings come at a cost. Smoke from at least 80 wildfires in 13 US states and western Canada is filtering into the upper atmosphere and is visible across most of the Midwest and even into the eastern third of the country.

As of Tuesday (7/20) morning, the Bootleg Fire in Oregon has burned 388,000 acres and is only about 30 percent contained, according to ABC News.

YouTuber SXS Fury shared some spectacular drone footage from 1,600 feet above Mid-Michigan. The intent was to capture a beautiful, hazy sunset on Monday (7/19) evening, but excessive smoke from the wildfires actually muted the view.

The drone footage (in the video below) appears to be from farm country in the heart of Mid-Michigan. If you've ever visited that area of Michigan, you know that hazy, smokey atmosphere (like you might equate with a large, metropolitan area) is certainly an anomaly. Mid-Michigan is known for its pristine beauty and crystal-clear skies that you can breathe in all day long.

At least 40 million people in the US are currently experiencing poor air quality due to the wildfires.
