On the heels of Australia's massive flooding, devastating landslides and floods have befallen parts of Brazil. According to Reuters, at least 443 people have been found dead thus far and Bloomberg is reporting that thousands have been rendered homeless.

Some are pointing to poor national preparedness as the culprit. Says Reuters:

"Landslides and flash floods are common in much of Brazil, often exposing poor urban planning and a lack of preventive action by authorities."

Right now, citizens are scrambling to get to safe ground, and looking for those lost in the chaos.
