AG Schuette Sues Three Companies in Connection with Flint Water Crisis
Michigan Attorney General Bill Schuette has filed a civil lawsuit against three companies in connection with the flint water crisis.
According to the Detroit Free Press, the companies are Veolia North America, Lockwood Andrews and Newman, and Leo A. Daly Co. which is LAN's parent company.
The lawsuit, filed in Genesee County Circuit Court, alleges the companies of causing the Flint water crisis to "occur, continue and worsen." The AG's office said in court papers that the City of Flint and State of Michigan hired the firms for their expertise but "as a result of the Defendant corporations' acts and omissions, Flint's lead pipe corroded, leaching lead into residents' drinking water ultimately poisoning the residents themselves."
In April, Schuette announced felony criminal charges against two MDEQ employees and a City of Flint official in connection with the crisis.
