Gas prices have increased from last week, AAA Michigan reports. Michigan's current statewide average is about $2.42 per gallon, up about ten cents from last week.

Of the cities surveyed by AAA, the cheapest price for self-serve unleaded fuel can be found in the Marquette area, where it's about $2.33 per gallon. The highest average gas price can be found in the Traverse City area where it's about $2.45 per gallon. Gas prices in and around the Flint area are slightly under the statewide average with prices around $2.41 per gallon.

AAA says despite falling prices the majority of last month, retail averages maintain the potential to inch upward short-term as the summer driving season approaches. It's estimated that even with prices reflecting seasonality, consumers are expected to see prices move lower leading up to the peak driving season this summer.
