The statewide average daily gas price has increased ten cents from last week according to AAA Michigan. The current statewide average is about $2.34 per gallon.

Of the ten Michigan metro areas surveyed by AAA for self-serve unleaded fuel the lowest average prices can be found in the Benton Harbor area where it's around $2.28 per gallon. The highest averages can be found in the Saginaw/Bay City/Midland area where it's about $2.37 per gallon. AS of Sunday, gas prices in and around the Flint area were right inline with the state average with prices of $2.34 per gallon.

AAA says Michigan ranks second in the nation for the largest weekly change in average gas price and that the jump in price can likely be attributed to issues at BP's Whiting refinery located in northwest Indiana and the effects of Hurricane Matthew.
