Gas prices have increased almost ten cents across Michigan according to the latest Gas Price Primer report from AAA Michigan.

Michigan's current statewide average is about $2.36 per gallon and AAA says this is the first time in five weeks that the statewide daily gas price has increased.

Of the ten Michigan metro areas surveyed by AAA for self-serve unleaded fuel prices, the lowest average can be found in the Traverse City area where it's about $2.29 per gallon. The highest average can be found in the Ann Arbor area where it's about $2.42 a gallon. Gas prices in and around the Flint area were averaging $2.34 per gallon as of Sunday.

AAA says Michigan ranks 11th in the nation for most expensive gas prices and that drivers in the Great Lakes region have been no stranger to dramatic fluctuations in the prices they pay at the pump as regional refinery and distribution issues have regularly sent prices sharply higher only to drop again once the issue has been resolved.
