Gas prices increased from last week, AAA Michigan reports. Michigan's current statewide average is about $2.24 per gallon. This is the second week in a row that statewide average weekly gas prices have risen above $2 per gallon after five weeks of prices below it.

Gas prices in and around the Flint area are averaging just over $2.21 per gallon, up 14 cents from last week. Of the other cities surveyed, the cheapest prices for self-serve unleaded fuel can be found in the Saginaw-Bay City-Midland area where its about $2.25 a gallon. The highest averages can be found in Traverse City where its $2.29 per gallon.

According to AAA, gas prices have begun to increase due to crude oil prices that are trading at more stable levels following a multi-month sell off. AAA surveys more than 2,800 Michigan gas stations daily. For more information, visit www.AAA.com and search for Fuel Gauge Report.
