Gas prices around the state are down five cents according to a new report from AAA Michigan. For the first time in nearly two months, the average is less than $2 per gallon with current averages of $1.96 per gallon.

Of the ten Michigan metro areas surveyed by AAA for fuel prices, the lowest average price can be found in the Lansing area where it's about $1.91 per gallon. For the second week in a row, the highest averages can be found in the Marquette area where it's about $2.05 per gallon. Gas prices in and around the Flint area were averaging $1.93 as of Sunday.

AAA says seasonal refinery maintenance is ongoing and refineries are  beginning to transition to summer-blend gasoline. Both activities can lead to reductions in supply. AAA also says gas prices tend to reach the highest levels of the year in the spring before the summer driving season.
