The average weekly gas price increased about six cents from last week according to AAA Michigan. The current statewide average is about $2.94 per gallon.

Of the cities surveyed by AAA, the lowest prices for self-serve unleaded fuel can be found in the Marquette area, where it's about $2.74 per gallon. The highest averages can be found in the Ann Arbor area where it's about $2.99 per gallon. In and around the Flint area, prices are averaging $2.93 a gallon.

AAA says retail averages are up by double-digits in ten states, led by Michigan and Ohio. They add that pump prices often fall leading up to the Independence Day holiday, however, a seasonal decline in the national average this year was offset by supply shortages due to localized refinery issues and global crude prices that have recovered from multi-year lows this spring.
