Gas prices dropped 17 cents from last week, AAA Michigan reports.

Michigan's current statewide average is about $2.06 per gallon, about 24 cents less than last week's average and over $1.30 less than this same time last year. AAA says this is the seventh week in a row that statewide average gas prices have dropped.

Of the cities surveyed by AAA, the cheapest price for self-serve unleaded fuel can be found in the Grand Rapids-Muskegon-Holland area where it's about $1.92 per gallon. Gas prices in and around the Flint area are just slightly higher at $1.93 a gallon. The highest prices can be found in the Marquette area where there are averages of $2.33 per gallon.

AAA says abundant supply and sluggish demand have helped push the global price of crude down by more than $50 per barrel since June and this year's plummet has been even more extreme and has triggered speculation surrounding the impact of sustained low prices for crude.

AAA surveys more than 2,800 Michigan gas stations daily. For the cheapest prices and more, visit www.AAA.com.
