For the first time in five weeks, gas prices are above $2 per gallon. Gas prices increased 15 cents from last week, AAA Michigan reports. Michigan's current statewide average is about $2.11 per gallon.

Of the cities surveyed by AAA, the cheapest price for self-serve unleaded fuel can be found in the Flint area, where it's about $2.07 per gallon. The highest averages can be found in the Traverse City area where it's about $2.17 per gallon.

According to AAA, recent gas price increases can be attributed to stabilized crude oil prices, the beginning of refinery maintenance season and equipment problems that reduce refinery and gasoline production capabilities.

AAA surveys 2,800 Michigan gas stations daily. For more information, visit www.AAA.com.
