It looks like the demotions, and closing of Flint Fire Departments has been postponed according to milve.com:

“The demotions will go into effect in early February,” said Dawn Jones, Mayor Dayne Walling’s spokeswoman. “During this two week period of time between now and early February, the administration will use this time to continue to review this decision of the demotions.”

She did not provide any other details on why the demotions were postponed.

The demotions of 21 fire department supervisors, who received notice of the changes earlier this month, would have left too few captains and lieutenants to man the city’s five stations, said Flint Firefighters Union President Raul Garcia.
