The United Way of Genesee County officially dedicated their new office on Monday. The move had occurred earlier this summer after a $110,000 donation from the Charles Stewart Mott Foundation. The agency, which previously occupied space in the First Merit building in downtown Flint, moved to Plaza One at 111 East Court Street.

Jamie Gaskin, CEO of the United Way of Genesee County, said the "new location allows the United Way staff, volunteers and the programs we serve a place to meet and collaborate on how to better serve the communities." Gaskin added thanks to the C.S. Mott Foundation as we "continue our mission to increase the number of people we serve."

During the dedication ceremony at a new office, United Way officials were joined by General Motors' Customer Care & Aftersales organization. Together, they presented a check for $18,000 to the YWCA's Safe House. UAW members from facilities in Michigan and Ohio also contributed to the donation.

In addition to the office dedication and check presentation, guests were also able to meet with a Flint-area artist, Amando Fernandez, who painted a giant mural at the entrance to the new United Way office.
