A Flint police officer and a former Genesee County corrections officer are both facing criminal sexual conduct charges in connection with an incident that occurred in December at one of the officer's homes in Linden.

Genesee County Prosecutor David Leyton detailed the charges against 25-year-old Caleb Tierney and 24-year old Cameron Zayler at a press conference earlier today. Tierney is a police officer fo the city of Flint and Zayler is a former corrections officer for the Genesee County Sheriff's Department.

Two Officers Charged as Follows:

  • Tierney has been charged with one count of first-degree criminal sexual conduct.
  • Zayler has been charged with two counts of first-degree criminal sexual conduct.

Both men could face up to life in prison if convicted, according to Flint's ABC-12.

Women Assaulted at Officer's Home

The incident dates back to December of last year when a 19-year-old woman and a 21-year-old woman were invited to Tierney's home in Linden.

Leyton says Tierney allegedly sexually penetrated one of the women when she was physically helpless.

"This is a situation where two young ladies went over to a house willingly and may have engaged in some kind of intake of alcohol and perhaps there was a lot of intake of alcohol," Leyton said. "But the law is very, very clear that even if someone has a lot to drink, you still cannot take advantage of them. You still cannot do what these individuals are alleged to have done."

After the women came forward, an investigation was conducted by the Linden Police Department, later turning the case over to the Genesee County Prosecutor's office.
