Remote Working Makes it Possible
Many companies across the country are giving their employees the opportunity to work from home. Can we realistically say that this may be the one good thing that came from the coronavirus pandemic? Not only is this a huge perk for employees, but companies are saving fortunes on real estate, office space, and utilities.
So as thousands of people transitioned to working from home during the pandemic, many have been able to make that transition permanent.
That's where the incentives begin.
11 Cities Across the US Over Move-In Incentives
Fortune scoured the country to find opportunities for remote workers to make a few bucks by moving and came up with a list of 11 cities across the United States that are currently offering up to $20,000 worth of incentives.
These packages include cash, tax breaks, and even property.
Michigan Package Comes With a Catch
Well, there's always a catch, isn't there?
In order to take advantage of Michigan's incentive plan, you have to move to Southwest Michigan. You also must be a full-time remote worker, employed by a company that is based outside of Michigan.
Here's how Fortune summarizes the southwest region of our state:
"Less than 200 miles from Chicago, the Southwestern area of Michigan is known for its scenic Lake Michigan beaches and large dunes that are visible from space."
Here's the Deal
The "Move to Southwest Michigan Package" includes a $10,000 incentive toward a mortgage on a home worth at least $200,000. There's an extra $5,000 stipend offered if an applicant's child is enrolled in a local public school.
