Ever wondered what it looks like inside one of those giant wind turbines?

Amy Kienustke is a native of Portland, Michigan, and currently resides in Michigan Center. She posted some pretty cool pictures on Facebook over the weekend with a look inside (literally) the new wind turbine farm that's being built in Moscow, Michigan, in the southern part of the mitten state.

Consumers Energy started construction on the wind turbine farm just before the end of 2019 but not without controversy. Many residents were concerned that the development would bring down property values, add to the noise pollution, and affect local well water.

The county has been preparing for the project for nearly a decade; when it's completed, it's expected to bring about $65 million to the local economy over the next 25 years. There are also wind turbine projects being developed for Tuscola and Gratiot Counties.

Amy was kind enough to share these cool pictures with us and on the Abandoned, Old and Interesting Places in Michigan Facebook page.

Talk about something you don't get to see every day! Seriously though - if you've ever seen a truck on the highway, hauling one of these bad boys, they're ENORMOUS. The trucks carry them one blade at a time. Incredible.

In case you're wondering, a fear of wind turbines is called Anemomenophobia. And yes, it's a real thing. My friend Trish has it. Now, after seeing them up close and person, I can kind of understand where she's coming from.
