Get ready for a total zombie takeover. Earlier this week, AMC Networks CEO Josh Sapan teased an expansion of The Walking Dead universe, which would extend through the next 10 years — if not longer. Now, a new report has shed some light on what those plans would entail, including a feature film, more shows and spinoffs, and a version of the hit series set in a different country.
We’re accustomed to death on The Walking Dead, and doubly-so when the comics provide a road map. That’s what made that climactic bite in Sunday’s midseason finale such a shocker, and – before you ask – both producers and the actor in question confirm the character’s exit, noting “[That bite] is a one-way ticket.”
Seven seasons in, we’re used to the sweat-drenched aesthetic of AMC’s The Walking Dead, given summer shoots and the Atlanta climate. Said schedule has never allowed The Walking Dead to film in truly cold, even snowy conditions, as frequently seen in the comics, for which producers discuss the potential for a standalone episode filmed in winter.
However much the first half of The Walking Dead Season 6 spent jumping around time and perspective, few would argue that our beloved Daryl got the short end of the stick, leading only a solitary episode, and losing his iconic motorcycle and crossbow in the process. Our long national nightmare has ended, however, as the back eight will feature much more Norman Reedus, even “a little Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid” action with Rick.
As The Walking Dead gears up for the back half of its sixth season and some major comic milestones, with years of issues untapped for source material, there isn’t much consideration of an end in sight. That said, AMC’s longest series only lasted seven seasons, so how long do network bosses really see it going? Might Fear, or another spinoff ever take the reigns?

AMC’s Fear The Walking Dead spinoff “companion series” has kept a pretty low profile since the debut of its first teaser, but like the zombie apocalypse, the undead are slowly starting to creep out. The ease with which we access TV becomes more ubiquitous every year, but some shows will always top out demand for piracy. Now, for the third year in a row, HBO’s ‘Game of Thrones’ has topped TorrentFreak’s annual list of pirated TV show downloads, though a few of the entries on this year’s countdown might actually surprise you.
