Many people's favorite SportsCenter anchor (mine as well), Stuart Scott, has passed away at the age of 49 after a long battle with cancer.

I never really liked SportsCenter when I was a kid... until Stuart Scott started doing the show. When Scott and Rich Eisen would host together, it was pretty incredible. They were both so entertaining and their chemistry together was so good that it took a show that I had previously deemed unwatchable and turned it into a show I would watch 2-3 times in a row.

Scott had been in a long battle with cancer and really opened up about his fight during a moving speech at the ESPY's after receiving the Jimmy V award for perseverance (video below). His spirit was unbreakable and inspiring. I almost used the term "lost his fight with cancer" in this article until I remembered something Stuart said. "When you die, it does not mean that you lose to cancer. You beat cancer by how you live, why you live and in the manner in which you live." Pretty powerful stuff.

Sadly, he passed this morning at the age of 49. He is survived by his two daughters Taelor (19) and Syndi (15).
