Another great story that illustrates the importance of microchips.

The Genesee County Animal Shelter Dogs and Cats Facebook page shared a heartwarming story to their news feed yesterday - a Saginaw man and his pet dog were reunited in Flint.

Not all of the details of the story are clear but it appears that Sheba, who looks to be a German Shepherd mix, was stolen from her owner over a year ago. Somebody locally found her and she was taken to Genesee County Animal Control, where she was scanned for a microchip. And luckily, she had one!

Her owners were contacted and drove down from Saginaw to be reunited with their fur baby.

A friendly reminder that a pet microchip is NOT a GPS; microchips hold the owner's information and can be contacted after being scanned. Still, it's always nice to hear a story about a missing pet with a happy ending!
